Enforce The Subpoenas

Members of the Select Committee investigating the January 6th Insurrection issued subpoenas to four Trump cronies to include former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

Questions around Trump’s words and actions that day are at the center of the investigation. What exactly were the discussions at the White House before, during, and after domestic terrorists, inspired by their Dear Leader, stormed the United States Capitol?

At a rally that morning, Trump told his true believers they had to “fight like hell” to save their country. This gas-lighting was a continuation of the Big Lie spun by Trump and spread by Republicans since the election of Biden to the presidency.

Now, true to form, The Former Guy is threatening to claim executive privilege and instructing Meadows and others to disregard lawfully issued subpoenas. Republicans are simply ignoring the Constitution they swore to protect.

In this moment of crisis, it is time for Democrats to fight for all our lives. There is no place for hand wringing, or relinquishing their lawful powers. This is one more step in Republican attempts to ignore the rule of law, subvert the Constitution and ultimately destroy American Democracy.

Frankly, it is choosing time for Democrats. They can either surrender to Trump and do nothing, or they can Enforce the Subpoenas and have those who ignore them arrested.

To regain the confidence of the American people, protect the Constitution, and safeguard the Republic, Democrats must have the courage to uphold the rule of law. There is only one choice here.
